Microneedling in Covington, LA

Microneedling is a unique rejuvenation treatment that triggers the body’s own healing response to induce the repair and strengthening of the skin. Baldone Reina Dermatology offers this treatment to patients living in Mandeville, Covington, the Northshore and New Orleans, LA.

What is Microneedling?

MicroneedlingMicroneedling is a rejuvenation technique that works by inflicting many tiny punctures to the skin. As a response to these injuries, the body produces collagen to heal the skin in the affected areas. However, since the wounds are so small, they are quickly healed with plenty of remaining collagen to enhance the elasticity and appearance of the skin. At Baldone Reina Dermatology, we use SkinPen® for microneedling treatments, which offers the following benefits:

  • Reduction in lines and wrinkles
  • Reduction in acne scarring and stretch marks
  • Improved skin tone and texture
  • Reduced pore size
  • Firmer, tighter skin

How Much Does Microneedling Cost?

If you elect to undergo microneedling at Baldone Reina Dermatology, you will first have a consultation with one of our board-certified dermatologists. During this consultation, we will assess your treatment goals in order to determine the best approach for your microneedling treatment. Once these variables are evaluated, we will be able to provide you with the cost of treatment and any associated fees.

MicroneedlingWhat is SkinPen® Microneedling?

SkinPen® is the first FDA-approved microneedling technique, designed for optimal safety. It is a pen-shaped handheld device that precisely delivers the benefits of microneedling in the desired treatment areas. Although it can be used for many cosmetic concerns, SkinPen® is particularly effective for the treatment of acne scars.

What is the Microneedling Treatment Like?

The microneedling procedure is simple and takes less than one hour. First, apply a topical anesthetic 30-45 minutes prior to minimize any discomfort. A topical anesthetic is available for purchase at our office. Then, we will use the SkinPen® device to perform the microneedling technique in the desired areas. Once the entire area has been treated, your treatment will be complete.

What is the Recovery Period Like Following Microneedling?

After your microneedling treatment, you can expect the skin to be red for several hours. Over the following days, the redness will fade and you may develop small scabs in the treatment area. These side effects are a natural part of the healing process, and typically subside within a week. Most patients are able to resume their normal activities within 24 hours of treatment.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Microneedling?

The results from your microneedling treatment will become visible as the skin heals and collagen strengthens and repairs the skin. Most patients notice results within a month of treatment, although multiple treatment sessions are often recommended for optimal results. After three to six sessions, patients can enjoy significant improvements in skin health and appearance that last for up to a year or longer.
