What is the Kybella® Treatment Like?
Before your Kybella® treatment, apply a topical anesthetic 30-45 minutes prior to minimize any discomfort that may occur during the injection process. A topical anesthetic is available for purchase at our office. Injections are then made in and around the area under the chin. The number of injections performed will depend on your unique treatment plan. The Kybella® treatment takes less than 30 minutes, making it a great option for patients with a busy schedule.
What is the Recovery Period Like Following Kybella®?
After your Kybella® treatment, you may experience swelling, bruising or sensitivity in the treatment area. These are common effects of treatment, and typically fade within a few days. Despite these side effects, you will be able to return to work and all other normal activities immediately following your appointment. There is no downtime or recovery period involved with Kybella®.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Kybella®?
Once the Kybella® treatment has been performed, it works to gradually reduce fat under the chin over the following weeks. Patients can expect noticeable results to develop about two to three months after treatment. However, we typically recommend multiple treatment sessions for optimal results, with some patients needing as many as six Kybella® treatments. The results from Kybella® are permanent, as fat is completely eliminated from the chin and neck area. Patients are encouraged to maintain healthy diet and exercise habits to ensure their results last as long as possible.
