What is Hyperpigmentation & Melasma Treatment?

With melasma and other forms of hyperpigmentation, patients develop spots or patches of unevenly colored skin. Although these conditions are harmless, many choose to pursue treatment in order to achieve clear skin and an even skin tone. Many treatments for these conditions involve breaking up the pigments that are responsible for the darker skin tones, resulting in a more even complexion. We may recommend one of the following treatments for your melasma or hyperpigmentation concerns:

How Much Does Hyperpigmentation & Melasma Treatment Cost?

If you elect hyperpigmentation or melasma treatment at Baldone Reina Dermatology, you will first have a consultation with one of our board-certified dermatologists. During this consultation, we will assess your current condition and your treatment goals in order to determine the best approach for your treatment. In some cases, your treatment may be eligible for coverage by health insurance. Once these variables are considered and your eligibility for insurance coverage is determined, we will be able to provide you with the cost of treatment and any associated fees.

How Does Skin Pigmentation Treatment Work?

To treat pigmentation in the skin, our treatments target darkened pigments in the skin. By heating or otherwise removing these groups of pigment, the color will fade to reveal a more even skin tone. In most cases, patients will need to undergo multiple treatment sessions in order to achieve optimal results. However, noticeable results are often achieved after the first treatment.

Can Freckles, Birthmarks and Port Stains Be Treated?

Freckles, birthmarks and port stains are all forms of pigmentation issues in the skin that can be treated at Baldone Reina Dermatology. While the optimal treatment method may vary depending on the location and the concern being treated, we offer effective treatment options for all of these conditions. Like other hyperpigmentation treatments, a series of treatments will likely be required for optimal results.

Which Treatment is Best for Me?

There are many treatments available for managing melasma and other hyperpigmentation concerns. This is a good thing, as patients can receive the treatment that is best suited for their skin type and condition. During your consultation, we will assess your skin to determine the best treatment, or combination of treatments, for your hyperpigmentation concerns.
